Does Paper have an official MCP server or Claude connector?

As of October 2026, Paper (paper.design) documents its own MCP server, which lets an AI agent read and write your Paper design files. It runs through the Paper Desktop app or the Paper CLI over local stdio, with plugins published for Claude Code, Cursor and Claude Desktop. Authentication and the full tool list are not documented on the pages I read.

Does Paper have an official MCP server?

Yes. Paper's own docs describe an MCP server that lets agents read and write your design files, available through Paper Desktop or the Paper CLI.

Which AI tools does it work with?

Paper's docs give setup for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and a generic stdio config. The agent-plugins README also covers Claude Desktop.

Does it work when the app is closed?

The docs recommend the Paper CLI over stdio, which works even when Paper Desktop is closed. The older HTTP endpoint needs a file open in Desktop.

Is it a Claude connector?

Not verified in Anthropic's directory; claude.com/connectors/paper returned 404. It installs as a Claude Code plugin or Claude Desktop extension.
