As of October 2026, Hex-Rays publishes an official, free and open-source IDA MCP server (MIT) that runs locally through idalib and needs IDA 9.4 or later. It includes a tool that runs arbitrary IDAPython, so sandbox the agent. The older community project mrexodia/ida-pro-mcp is far more starred and now points users to the official one.

Does IDA Pro have an official MCP server?

Yes. Hex-Rays released the open-source HexRaysSA/ida-mcp server, announced September 25, 2026.

What do I need to run it?

IDA 9.4 or later with idalib, plus Python 3.11. The announcement lists IDA Pro, Home, Classroom and OEM editions.

Is it safe?

It can run arbitrary IDAPython, including byte patching. Hex-Rays recommends sandboxing the agent harness.

What about ida-pro-mcp by mrexodia?

A popular community project. Its README now recommends the official Hex-Rays server, and its GUI plugin is no longer recommended.

Is IDA a Claude connector?

Not found in Claude's directory. A Claude Code plugin exists in the Hex-Rays marketplace, which is not a connector.
