Does Docker have an official MCP server or Claude connector?

As of October 2026, Docker publishes official MCP software: the Docker Hub MCP Server (a local server for searching and managing Docker Hub repositories) and the MCP Toolkit and Gateway in Docker Desktop for running catalog MCP servers. Neither is a remote hosted server. Docker's own docs do not list a Claude connector.

Does Docker have an official MCP server?

Yes. Docker publishes the Docker Hub MCP Server (github.com/docker/hub-mcp) and the MCP Gateway behind Docker Desktop's MCP Toolkit. These work with Docker Hub and catalog servers; no official server for controlling local containers was verified as of October 2026.

Is Docker a Claude connector?

Not confirmed. No Docker listing was found in Anthropic's directory. The MCP Toolkit can connect to Claude Desktop through Docker Desktop.

Do I need Docker Desktop?

For the MCP Toolkit and gateway, yes. The Docker Hub MCP Server runs locally with Node.js from a cloned repo.

Is it safe?

The Hub server can create and update repositories when given a Docker PAT, so use a scoped token. The Toolkit runs catalog servers in isolated containers per Docker's README.
