Side by side
| Detail | Asana | ClickUp |
|---|---|---|
| Verdict | Official | Official |
| Claude connector | Yes | Yes |
| Server | Asana MCP server (V2) (Asana) | ClickUp MCP server (ClickUp) |
| How it runs | Hosted (remote URL) | Hosted (remote URL) |
| Sign-in | OAuth sign-in | OAuth sign-in |
| Stage | Generally available | Unknown |
| Plan needed | Not stated for the server as a whole. search_tasks is documented as available on Premium accounts only (use get_tasks otherwise). Enterprise+ admins can allow or block MCP clients through Asana app management. | Available on all ClickUp plans including Free Forever, per ClickUp's blog. Without the Everything AI add-on a Workspace-wide rolling 24-hour MCP allowance applies; limits may change. |
| Documented tools | 8 (4 read, 4 write) | 8 (3 read, 5 write) |
| Can delete data | Yes, 1 tool | No documented delete tools |
| Safety flags | OAuth against your Asana account (workspace-scoped). Asana states MCP apps do not use permission scopes: the token requests full access to all available tools, limited only by the user's own Asana permissions. · Write tools include create_tasks and create_project that act immediately, update_tasks, and delete_task, which permanently deletes a task and its subtasks and cannot be undone. No read-only mode documented; Claude/ChatGPT get preview tools that ask for confirmation. | Create, update and bulk-update task tools and a delete-task tool are exposed with no documented read-only mode. ClickUp says there is no MCP way to delete Lists, Folders, Docs or comments, and that delete-task confirms the task first. |
