Asana MCP server & Claude connector

Does Asana have an official MCP server or Claude connector?

Official

As of October 2026, Asana publishes an official remote MCP server at mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp, documented on developers.asana.com and listed in Anthropic's connector directory as Anthropic verified and made by Asana. It signs in with OAuth and requests full tool access, with no read-only mode documented. The older V1 beta server at /sse is deprecated, with its shutdown date extended to 5 August 2026.

Safety check

  • Pass

    Publisher verified

Endpoint on asana.com, documented on developers.asana.com; Anthropic's directory lists the connector as made by Asana with the same URL.

  • Flag

    Auth model

OAuth against your Asana account (workspace-scoped). Asana states MCP apps do not use permission scopes: the token requests full access to all available tools, limited only by the user's own Asana permissions.

  • Flag

    Write and delete access

Write tools include create_tasks and create_project that act immediately, update_tasks, and delete_task, which permanently deletes a task and its subtasks and cannot be undone. No read-only mode documented; Claude/ChatGPT get preview tools that ask for confirmation.

  • Pass

    Tool-description injection scan

Read all tool descriptions in Asana's MCP Tools Reference (and a Jev screen of it); no text addressed to an AI beyond ordinary usage hints. Live tools/list output was not inspected. Task and comment content is untrusted input.

  • Unknown

    Repo maintenance

Hosted by Asana; no public server repository found. Tools reference last updated 2026-09-01 and the MCP overview page '10 days ago' when fetched. V1 server is deprecated.

FAQ

Does Asana have an official MCP server?

Yes. Asana documents a remote server at https://mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp on developers.asana.com.

Is Asana a Claude connector?

Yes. Anthropic's directory lists Asana as Anthropic verified and made by Asana, with 30+ tools.

Can I make it read-only?

No read-only mode is documented. Asana says MCP apps do not use permission scopes; access is limited by your own Asana permissions.

Is the old SSE server still available?

No longer supported as a new integration. Asana's developer docs say the V1 beta server (mcp.asana.com/sse) is deprecated and was due to shut down on Wed 5 Aug 2026, extended from 11 May 2026. That date has passed; use the V2 server.

Does it need a paid Asana plan?

Not stated for the server. The search_tasks tool is documented as Premium-only; get_tasks works on other plans.
