Shopify MCP server & Claude connector
Does Shopify have an official Claude connector or MCP server?
Official
As of October 2026, Shopify publishes official AI integrations: a store-management connector for Claude, listed as Anthropic verified and documented in the Shopify Help Center, and a local Dev MCP server for developers (@shopify/dev-mcp) that needs no authentication. FAQ
Does Shopify have an official MCP server?
Yes, two kinds: a store-management connector for Claude and other AI tools, and a local Dev MCP server for developers. Shopify also documents storefront, UCP, checkout and customer-account MCP servers for building shopping agents.
Is Shopify a Claude connector?
Yes. It is listed in Anthropic's connector directory, published by Shopify and marked Anthropic verified.
Can it change my store?
Yes, within the access level you approve. Shopify says the tool is limited by the permissions of the user who approves it, and the approved level cannot be lowered without reinstalling.
Should I create an API token for an MCP server instead?
Shopify advises against it: use the official integration and do not create an API access token or build your own integration.
What does the Dev MCP server do?
It gives coding agents Shopify docs, GraphQL schemas and code validation. It runs locally, needs no authentication and does not access live store data.
